Purpose of the Job: Provide the highest quality support, care, and supervision to our senior residents by delivering personal care services as well as assistance with activities of daily living to help our assisted living and memory care residents feel right at home.

Financial Responsibility: Some damage or loss is possible, but exercise of ordinary care an attention will prevent loss.

Responsibility for Contacts: Position involves communication with individuals inside and/or outside the Company, including direct contact with residents, where the nature of the information provided usually follows an established pattern. Such communication requires only normal courtesy.

Equipment: General office equipment: fax machine, copier, computer, telephone, calculator. Medical equipment: blood pressure cuff, scales, oximeter, etc.

Complexity of Work: Semi-routine work requiring some improvision on isolated problems.

Complexity of Supervision: Work performed under readily available supervision.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Essential Job Responsibilities

1. Consistent and predictable attendance.

2. Provide direct personal assistance and supervision needed by assisted living and memory care residents with their bathing, dressing, eating, walking, going up and down steps, smoking, and attending to any personal needs the residents may be unable to attend to themselves. Encourage and assist residents to care for their grooming, clothing, and toilet articles, including care of the body, hair, gums, teeth, dentures, fingernails, clothing, and personal items.

3. Document daily ADL care.

4. Handle non-routine housekeeping tasks including, but not limited to, wiping up spills, doing laundry, emptying trash cans, changing sheets, or assisting a resident in making their bed.

5. Respond immediately in case of an accident or incident involving a resident. Document incident.

6. Obtain vital signs daily, weekly, or as scheduled.

7. Attend training as required as well as complete all Relias training as scheduled.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Policy-Setting Responsibilities: No formal responsibility. Policies associated with the job's purpose and essential responsibilities are set by others.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Information Required for Completely Satisfactory Performance:

Knowledge of principles or processes for providing resident and personal care services.
Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong with a resident.
Ability to listen to and comprehend information and ideas presented from residents and family members.
Ability to communicate ideas and information to residents and family members.

Education and Licenses: Requires the ability to use fractions, decimals, and commercial arithmetic. Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation required. Equivalent to a 4-year high school education. Valid CNA license required except if working on provisional pending taking the state boards. Must have and maintain CPR and first aid certifications.

Experience: 0-3 months as a nursing assistant, home health aide, or eldercare volunteer.

Special Requirements:

Must have ability to communicate as per section 22VAC40-73-110.
Must be considerate and accepting of the aged, frail, and disabled person.
Appropriate attire and good personal hygiene are expected.
Must comply with and implement all Company Policies and Procedures as well as the Employee Handbook.
Must support and promote the "Rights and Responsibilities of Residents of Adult Care Residences."
Must maintain confidentiality with regard to residents, staff, and Company information.
Must participate in training and in-service programs as required by the Company and/or applicable State's Standards including, but not limited to, OSHA required training, CPR, etc.
Staff will not accept gratuities from resident, family members, vendors or visitors.
